Alone (Poem)

Standing at the back of that crowded train,
I try to push back the pain,
But my skin is already stained
With memories and tears.

I tried to hold on to your heart,
But it slipped through my fingers
I never heard it shatter.

You must have taken it back
A long time ago.

Before today,
I thought nothing could be softer than
A single teardrop hitting the ground,
And a heart being cut into two.

You proved me wrong.

After today,
I lost three quarters of my faith in love,
I lived the painful meaning of a heartbreak,
I learned a little more about being brave.

And right now,
I just want to close my eyes &
forget

you.

I will hold on
To the one quarter that's left.
